Money and Medals Section was formed in 1954, and contains over 26.000 items. It collects, studies and exhibits money, decorations, medals, medallions and symbols. Exceptionally significant material contained in the museum collection allows insights into the long lasting past of Belgrade.

The collection consists of Hellenic, Celtic, Roman republican and imperial money, Byzantine and Serbian medieval and Turkish money, as well as several depots of money from the European states and towns from the 16th and 18th century. 48 different currencies of the Turkish and European money from the 19th century, until the money of the Serbian Principality in 1868 appeared, are also within the collection. Special parts of the collection are decorations, medals, medallions and symbols, representing political and cultural history of Belgrade.
