The
Belgrade City Museum welcomes you to the presentation of the book
and to the discussion with the participacion of, Petar Pijanović,
PhD, Zoran Hamović,
Bojan Kovačević arch., Director of the Museum, who is also
the editor of the publication, and the author.
The book Historical and Apparitional
Characters of Belgrade / Belgrade in Borislav Pekić’s
novels Golden Fleece and Pilgrimage of Arsenije
Njegovan was published at the end of December 2004 in the
edition of the Museum of the City of Belgrade. The author is Tatjana
Korićanac, senior curator of the Museum. The text is reviewed
by Petar Pijanović, PhD. Photographs were selected by Vladimir Popovic while Dragana
Lacmanović was in charge of the graphic layout.
The book
is an attempt to understand the history of Belgrade through
literature and in a surreal manner, literature genuine as the
literary signatures (interiors) of Uskoković, Nušić,
Andrić, Vučo, Selenić, Mihiz, Ćosić, Pavić
or Bajac’s Druid. The parting of the visible, the historically
documented and the invisible, imaginary side of the City is the core
of the topic that preserves the museum’s poetics primarily with
its historical layer: personal records of the characters, events and
toponyms in Pekic’s novels.
The presentation of such a research attempt
with the support of the Museum of the City of Belgrade provides the
opportunity to hear some of the up to now unknown facts about the
City that generates our intellectual, literary – philosophical,
and artistic creativity. |
